Living Through History
When people said life in 2020 is like a movie, we didn't really mean a thrilling one.
It is now D-(??? I've lost count) of Restricted Movement Order in Malaysia, I haven't been out from the compound of my house for nearly a month now. COVID-19 is one hell of a ride, and it brought the bad in all of us.
There are some things that I learnt throughout this quarantine season, which are:-
Humans need closure
Whether you're an introvert or extrovert (or ambivert), you need other people, and not in the context of support or anything but the presence of one. It is hard, cooped up in your home (the term 'in the comfort of your home' isn't really reliable now), and had to endure your work or school through online. Yes, the idea of having to wear your pyjamas and go to your virtual class online is comforting as it seems but trust me, it's annoying.
And god, I really miss face-to-face classes! and my friends! and being outside :(
Stupidity is inside of everyone
This one's a bit sensitive but trust me, having to live inside and being online all the time, this quarantine season slowly made progress to make everyone look stupid. There were posts and tweets about ridiculous claims about COVID-19 and people were too ignorant to search for the truth and trust them anyways. We all know that that's not right but the truth it, majority of people are like that.
People are starting to become selfish, and greedy. I saw some posts about people panic-buying milk and breads, not being aware that those products aren't going to last them for a week or two, and then ends up in the bin. Some people are not as lucky as us, some had to wake up at 5 a.m. in order to work for food in their plates. Some had to steal off or rely to their friends since they don't have internet access at home, and their school are doing online classes.
The environment is healing
Truth be told, I am mad glad this happened. Today is Earth Day (Happy Earth Day!) and we are reaching to the point that our home is healing. Enough said, there were many pictures circling around that some of the animals are now back in their habitat, rivers are clearing up and so on. I hope this will go on.
And please, do practice social distancing. Be hygienic and respect the authorities to help flatten the curve.
Stay safe.
Love,
sam.
